Snoopy the Cartoon Character

Snoopy is considered the most famous Beagle. He can be found in the Peanuts comic strip, the Peanuts films and shows, and most of the Charlie Brown TV Show episodes. The creator of the character Snoopy is Charles M. Schulz.

The character Snoopy first came on the scene around the 1950s. At first Snoopy walked on four legs, but after a short time was created to walk on two legs. On the comic strips readers could see what Snoopy was saying with thought bubbles. During shows and on comic strips Snoopy was also given a yellow bird named Woodstock as a sidekick. Beagle Brigade

The Beagle Brigade is a team of mainly Beagles. The Beagles are used around the United States at airports to check for illegal agricultural items. The group is run by Customs and Border Protection which is under the US Department of Homeland Security.

As of 2019, there were about 120 Beagles working for Customs and Border Protection. Beagles are used because they have a calm temperament and are not as intimating to travelers. (Jean Bauhaus – Beagle Brigade)
